The Essence of the Levi’s Made in Japan Spring/Summer 2024 Collection: Premium Selvedge Denim
The essence of the Made in Japan Spring/Summer 2024 collection is the premium selvedge denim, sourced from the renowned Hiroshima-based Kaihara Denim Mill. Known for its impeccable attention to detail and ongoing dedication to tradition—including the use of vintage finishes—the mill possesses a unique dyeing technique that results in stunning shades of indigo, which become even more beautiful as they are worn.
Levi’s has partnered with SAAB, a sewing and finishing company, to cut, sew, and hand-finish each piece of the collection. These artisans meticulously transform cotton with expertise into wearable art pieces.
The Spring/Summer 2024 Made in Japan collection is crafted from splendid Japanese denim in rich shades, adding bold yet tasteful details to classic designs, following last fall’s new collaboration with the Japanese house Kenzo, through an authentic denim collection that blends Eastern and Western traditions in an innovative way.
Key Levi’s Pieces in the Made in Japan Spring/Summer 2024 Collection
The women’s trousers, available in a range of washes, include the Made in Japan Column, Made in Japan High Rise Boyfriend, Made in Japan Barrel, and Made in Japan High Rise Slim. The Made in Japan Column features colorful embroidery along the leg, while the Made in Japan Barrel has a captivating faded look.
The men’s trousers include the Made in Japan 1980s 501 jeans, Made in Japan 505 Regular Fit, Made in Japan 511, Made in Japan 512, and Made in Japan 502. A unique take on a timeless item, the 1980s 501 model features an “Atlas” patch representing a detailed map of the planet with tiny fabrics across the leg. The Made in Japan 505 Regular Fit model features colorful embroidery patches in a lighter shade. For warmer weather, the collection also includes a shorts version of the classic 501, in a pre-washed and blue hue.
The jackets include the Made in Japan Classic Type II for women, as well as the Made in Japan Classic Type III and Made in Japan Utility Trucker for men. In versions with colorful embroidery, “Atlas” patches, or just a light wash, the Utility Trucker jacket is solid, stylish, and versatile.
Both the Made in Japan Classic Type II jacket for women and the Made in Japan Classic Type III jacket for men come in a dark shade suitable for a wide range of outfit combinations. The Made in Japan Classic Type II jacket also has a version with colorful embroidery.
Each item includes exclusive details for this collection, such as the Made in Japan label on the back, inspired by the Hinomaru (Japanese flag) and a secret compartment.
