Tommy and Dee Hilfiger Continue the Tradition of Inviting Iconic People to the MET Gala
Tommy Hilfiger which is owned by PVH Corp. [NYSE: PVH], announces that the eight-member K-pop band and TOMMY HILFIGER brand ambassadors Stray Kids and actor Madelyn Cline join Tommy and Dee Hilfiger to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit on May 6, 2024, in New York City. The Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibit pays tribute to fashion’s history by presenting approximately 250 of the most beautiful archival designs ever made. The evening was co-chaired by Zendaya Coleman, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Jennifer Lopez.
Inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story and this year’s dress code, The Garden of Time, was brought to life through botanical beauties and floral embellishments to create a sense of grandeur inspired by architecture and sculptures found in the garden. The dress code was interpreted in many ways, from delicate petals and exaggerated vines gracing the famed red carpet to bold Greek-statue inspired silhouettes.
Tommy and Dee Hilfiger continued their legacy of inviting icons shaping contemporary culture by welcoming world-class K-pop sensations Stray Kids, a global music phenomenon, and rising star of entertainment Madelyn Cline. For both artists, it marked an ongoing collaboration as part of the Tommy family having headlined previous campaigns.
All dressed in custom TOMMY HILFIGER, the group created a cohesive Classic American Cool ensemble in keeping with this year’s theme while staying true to the brand’s signature red, white and blue color palette with rich gold accents. The eight Stray Kids took to the infamous Met Gala staircase in a sleek formation before whisking away their bespoke overcoats to reveal their impeccably tailored suiting with TOMMY HILFIGER signature details.
To celebrate the opening of the Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibition, attendees experienced over 400 years of fashion history across three areas: land, sea and sky. Displaying iconic pieces from Schiaparelli, Dior, Givenchy, and more, innovation such as video animation, light projection, AI and CGI were also used to bring fragile garments to life, such as Charles Frederick Worth’s ball gown from 1877.
